Finding hope

Updated: Aug 7, 2023

This past month, the team at VANA Ministries on the ground in Zimbabwe, have been hard at work turning your impact into action.

The generous donations made by people just like you are already making a tangible difference in the lives of Zimbabwean children.

We wish you could see the way their little faces light up with joy when they receive things we so often take for granted. Or hear the giggles and laughter that fill the air at the simplest of pleasures. Like peanut butter. For many, it’s a pantry staple. A regular addition to the weekly shop, but for the children receiving your support it’s so much more.

A jar of peanut butter can provide nourishment when bellies are empty and rumbling; it can provide energy to do more than just get through the day, allowing children to play and learn; it can even improve concentration leading to better school performance.

And it can provide hope, reminding these children that they are not forgotten, and that there are people who care and who desperately want to help them achieve a brighter future.

Who would have thought the humble jar of peanut butter could be so life-changing?

But that’s the power of your support. These children are faced with hardships many of us can only dream about. Simply getting to school each day can be a monumental effort, with hollow bellies and blistered feet making the often long walks feel unbearable.

Something so small, like a simple jar of peanut butter, has the power to create a ripple effect which will be felt for generations to come.

“We are very grateful for the Peanut Butter Project. Our children are so happy and healthy. It has become one of their favourites. Besides being yummy on its own, it carries the much-needed nutrients that nourish their bodies ... they are using it to prepare porridge in the morning, rice, samp, vegetable meals and spreading it on bread. Since its introduction peanut butter has stolen the show! Children are going to school energised and with full tummies.”

VANA Ministries Volunteer

In addition to the monthly peanut butter distribution provided to our VANA children, the support of donors just like you has enabled us to purchase two more manufacturing machines as part of the Peanut Butter Project.

The purchase of a skin sheller and another peanut grinding machine, will allow us to increase our peanut butter production, ensuring more young bodies are nourished.

We also hope to begin selling our 100% natural VANA Ministries Peanut Butter in retail shops, with proceeds going towards further funding of our programs.

None of this would have been possible without the generosity of our supporters.

If you would like to help more children to fight the pain of hunger, and start their day feeling nourished and energised, you can make a donation here.

Together we can ensure the children of Zimbabwe need never go to school hungry again.
